Why rent a car for IRONMAN 70.3 Agadir?
IRONMAN 70.3 Agadir takes place on Sunday 25 October 2026. The race spans three separate locations: the swim starts in the bay of Agadir, the 90 km bike course heads inland towards Taghazout, and the 21.1 km run unfolds along the seafront promenade. Add packet pick-up, bike check-in the day before and getting back to your hotel after the finish, and every single transfer depends on finding a taxi — often before dawn. The three race locations, and what they mean for your transfers
- Swim — 1.9 km in the bay of Agadir. The natural curve of the coast shelters the water, and October temperatures usually sit between 18 and 22 °C.
- Bike — 90 km as a single loop starting in downtown Agadir, heading into the Berber hinterland and reaching Taghazout. Announced elevation gain: 750 to 900 m.
- Run — 21.1 km over three flat loops along the promenade, the Marina and the beach.
One practical detail many athletes discover too late: the bike course uses the roads linking Agadir to Taghazout. On race day, those roads are partly closed to traffic. If you are staying on the Taghazout side, plan your transfers accordingly — or base yourself in Agadir and use the car to explore the coast on the other days.
Landing at Al Massira with a bike: what to plan for
A hard bike case typically measures 130 × 80 × 30 cm. It will not fit in a city car's boot. Supporting an athlete? The car changes everything
A triathlon is hard to follow on foot. Between the swim exit, the bike sections and the three run loops, the good viewing spots are spread over several kilometres. With a car, a family can watch the start, drive to a point on the bike course, then be on the promenade for the finish. The days before fill up just as easily: Taghazout is about thirty minutes away, Essaouira around 150 km, Marrakech 250 km via the A7 motorway.
Two international events in the same week
That same week, from 22 to 25 October, the Taghazout Surf Expo runs at Anchor Point, some twenty kilometres north. Accommodation across the region fills earlier than usual, and available vehicles thin out as the date approaches. If your dates are set, book your car early: this is the busiest week of the autumn on this coast.
Your questions before booking
Can I fit a boxed bike in the car?
Yes, on the models with enough boot space: Dacia Jogger, Dacia Duster, Kia Sportage. Tell us how many bikes and what size your cases are when booking, and we confirm the right model in writing before you arrive.
Do you take a deposit or require a credit card?
No. No deposit, no pre-authorisation, no card imprint. You can pay by card or in cash. Nothing is blocked on your account during the rental.
Is mileage limited?
No, mileage is unlimited on every car. Riding the bike course beforehand, driving up to Taghazout, a day out to Essaouira or Marrakech: you never count kilometres.
Do you deliver to the airport and to my hotel?
Yes, free of charge, at Al Massira airport and at your hotel in Agadir, as well as in Taghazout, Tamraght and Aourir. Return happens at the same place, or at the airport on your departure day.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can for this particular week. Two international events share the same stretch of coast, and demand far exceeds an ordinary October week.
