Surf & work in Taghazout: 8 camps to work remotely between sessions — and why you should come by car

You found the perfect camp. Coworking, fibre wifi, a session at Anchor Point before the first call, tagine at noon. You book three weeks. And on the first Saturday you discover the problem no brochure mentions: you are 20 kilometres from everything, and you have no car.
The mistake that ruins long stays
An airport-to-Taghazout transfer costs around €35 one way. A taxi to Imsouane, another to Paradise Valley, a third to Essaouira for the weekend — and you have spent more than a monthly rental without ever leaving when you wanted to. A nomad staying three weeks needs four wheels, not a driver.
Why Taghazout became the surf & work capital
Three reasons, and they all hold. The waves first: from October to April the bay strings together Atlantic swells, with Anchor Point for advanced surfers, Panoramas for beginners, Banana Point and Devil's Rock on the Tamraght side for everyone. The climate next: 20 to 24 °C while Europe is under rain. And the time zone — one hour from Paris, none from London. You surf at 8, you are in a meeting at 10, nobody knows.
But the bay is small, and everything worth the detour is elsewhere. That is where the choice of camp matters — and where the car question comes up at booking time, not on the first weekend.
The 3 camps built for working
Adventure Keys — Taghazout. The oldest on the list, open since 2007, and the only one to have turned coworking into a real product: the "Co-Work & Stay" package starts at €369 for seven nights, meals included, full access to the workspace, one surf and yoga session included. The 360° rooftop is the best-placed office in the bay. If you come to work first, this is the one.
Atlas Wonders — Tamraght. Coliving and coworking in the quiet village five kilometres south of Taghazout's bustle. Flexible package: surf, work, rest, in whatever order you want. This is the camp for people who stay a month and want a community, not a dorm.
Bigblue Surf Hostel & Coworking — Taghazout. The most affordable of the three, with a dedicated workspace in the heart of the village. Less premium, more lively. A good compromise for a first stay.
The 5 names that built the bay's reputation
These camps do not sell themselves as coworking spaces, but they all have the wifi you need, and above all a reputation built over years.
- Dfrost Almugar Surf & Yoga — Taghazout's high end, facing the ocean. Expensive, but every euro shows. Eight-day surf and yoga programme, all levels.
- Surf Coast Morocco — one of the most booked in the bay, around €78 a night with daily surf lessons and yoga. Between Panoramas and Hash Point: you walk to the waves.
- Surf Berbere — one of the largest operators, accommodation in Taghazout and Tamraght, seven days from €420 in a shared room. Structured programmes from beginner to intermediate.
- Surf Maroc — the longest-running operator in the area, two decades of reputation, small groups, personalised coaching. Seven days from €480.
- Azul Guesthouse — Taghazout Bay's boutique coaching: eight days with daily video analysis and guides who know every tide. For those who really want to progress.
What no camp can give you: weekend freedom
Let us be precise. These camps are excellent at what they do: house you, get you surfing, let you work. What they cannot do is take you to Imsouane on Saturday morning when the swell turns, or to Paradise Valley on Sunday, or to Essaouira for a long weekend. For that you need a car — and in Taghazout it is booked before you arrive, not on the spot.
The maths is simple. A rental starts at €20 a day, unlimited mileage, and roof bars are an optional €2 a day on the Sandero, Duster, Jogger and Sportage. We deliver it straight to your camp — Taghazout, Tamraght or Aourir — and collect it at the same place, or at the airport on your departure day. Nothing is blocked on your card: no deposit, no imprint, no advance. Your debit card is enough.

How to plan your stay
- Choose the camp by your priority — work first: Adventure Keys or Atlas Wonders; surf first: Dfrost, Surf Coast, Azul.
- Book the car before the flight, giving the camp's name as the delivery point. It is waiting when you land.
- Block your weekends: Imsouane (90 km, Africa's longest right), Paradise Valley (45 min), Essaouira (2h30 along the coast).
- Stay at least three weeks. Less, and you will get neither the work rhythm nor the surf progression.
