How to get there
Taghazout is located 23 km north of Agadir, about 20 minutes by car on the N1. It is the first major destination after leaving the airport heading north. With a GadiWaze rental car, you can be there directly from Al Massira airport in less than 30 minutes.
Surfing in Taghazout
Taghazout is world-famous for its world-class waves. The spots follow one after another from north to south:
- Anchor Point — The iconic spot. A long, powerful right-hander, perfect for experienced surfers. Works from October to April.
- Hash Point — Right at the village. More accessible, good for all levels.
- Panoramas — The quintessential beginners' spot, regular waves and a surf school on site.
- Killer Point — For pros only. Rocky bottom, hollow waves.
Beyond surfing
Taghazout has attracted an international community that comes as much for yoga as for surfing. Yoga studios have sprung up in the alleys, offering open-air classes facing the ocean. The atmosphere is decidedly bohemian: cats on white walls, café tables on rooftops, soft music.
Where to eat
- Fish restaurants at the main port: guaranteed freshness, local prices.
- Elevated cafés with ocean views: ideal for breakfast.
- Smoothie and fresh juice stalls in the alleys.
Mint tea on a rooftop at sunset remains one of the best free experiences in Morocco.
Sunset from Taghazout
The best spot for sunset is the rooftop of Café Panorama, facing the ocean. Arrive 30 minutes before official sunset to get a seat. In winter (November-January), the sun descends directly into the water — spectacular.
Sleep in Taghazout or Agadir?
Taghazout offers riads and guesthouses for an authentic village atmosphere. Agadir offers more hotel comfort, varied restaurants and amenities. With a rental car, you do not have to choose: sleep in Agadir and spend your days in Taghazout, or vice versa.
